England World Cup Squad Installs Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers at Home for Extreme Heat Preparation

Thomas Tuchel’s England staff have helped players set up advanced recovery equipment in their own homes to prepare for the extreme heat and humidity expected at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Many members of the squad now have hyperbaric oxygen chambers installed at home for oxygen therapy after club training. They are also using “red-light saunas” to speed up recovery between matches.

This preparation follows a special end-of-season training camp in Girona last summer, where players trained inside heated tents to simulate the tough conditions they will face this summer.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson confirmed his hyperbaric oxygen chamber setup, explaining that England staff helped coordinate equipment installation. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases oxygen delivery to muscles, significantly accelerating post-training recovery and reducing inflammation.

The hyperbaric oxygen chambers are used alongside red-light saunas to optimize players’ physical readiness between matches. The Football Association facilitated equipment acquisition, though players personally funded their hyperbaric oxygen chambers. With tournament temperatures expected to reach challenging levels, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has become a cornerstone of England’s heat acclimatization strategy.
